Report to the Community

Dear Midland Park Community Members,

I take great pleasure in leading the Midland Park Public Education Foundation as President this year alongside the incredibly talented and selfless MPPEF Executive Committee and Trustees.

Our Foundation is an all-volunteer organization, that consists of Midland Park residents who are committed to giving the children in our tiny town all of the opportunities that the surrounding, larger communities have access to.

How do we raise money to raise the bar on education in Midland Park? We create fun events like the Midland Park 5K that took place on Saturday, September 14, 2019, and our upcoming spring event, ‘Denim & Diamonds Bash featuring The Black Diamond Band’, where we raise money for grants and scholarships for the Midland Park Public School District. We have so much fun with our friends and neighbors, it (almost) doesn’t feel like work! If you ask any of our trustees, they will tell you that when they see the impact the technology, educational programs and learning experiences the Foundation has provided Midland Park students, it makes every second of work and every dollar spent absolutely worth it!

My parents always said that education was the best investment of time and money you could make. They worked hard to make sure I had the opportunities they never did. I want to do the same for my children and all of the children in our community because no one wins unless we all win. Won’t you join me?

Strong schools are the foundation of a strong community and a desirable town. We look forward to seeing you at the Midland Park Public Education Foundation’s next epic fundraiser, ‘Denim & Diamonds Bash featuring The Black Diamond Band’!

Please check the MPPEF website, and our Facebook (Midlandpark PEF), Instagram and Twitter (@mppef) accounts for information on reservations and other ways to support this incredible event!

With gratitude,

Joan Petrocelli Doumas President
Midland Park Public Education Foundation

This Fall the MPPEF returned with the 3rd Annual 5K held on Saturday, September 10, and despite scorching temperatures, it proved to be another success for the foundation. In addition to the traditional 5K run and 1-mile walk, the Foundation added a Kids’ Fun Run which was Grand Marshaled by Godwin Elementary School’s Physical Education teacher, Brian DeCarlo. To complement the Fun Run, Mr. DeCarlo led a warm up and pep talk on Vet’s field. Also featured at the event was a workout let by Midland Park business, Crossfit Bison.

There were more that 100 businesses & families that contributed to the success of the 5K by providing support in the form of sponsorship, services donated, or volunteering time and energy. This event brings our community together, from the Midland Park Police Department, CERT & Ambulance Corp, school administration and sports teams to families and businesses. With close to 400 runners and walkers, over $20K was raised for future educational initiatives in the Midland Park Public School system.

10 Year Anniversary Gala was a Success !
With over 280 guests including 60 original Founders of the MPPEF, the event was record breaking! We raised $39,000 from the very generous community in which we serve. Highlight of the evening was a check presented to the district in the amount of $79,665.34!! Because of your support we have funded over $400,000 in the last ten years and we cannot thank you enough!
A total of 134 chrome books were funded by the MPPEF. With this donation, our 5th and 6th graders are now participating in the 1:1 technology initiative. Also, Highland students in grades 3 and 4 are now able to utilize the existing technology in the eight computer carts, resulting in Highland School essentially becoming a 1:1 tech resource school.
Major construction of the media center is complete! Work is still in progress to create a space for the students to plug-in, read and collaborate. More to come!

About The Mppef

The Midland Park Public Education exists for one reason only: To raise money to fund grants that will strengthen our school system for all our children. By sharing this goal, our community serves as a vital partner with our district administration, the Board of Education, and faculty in providing the tools they need to bring academic excellence to our children.
